Patricia Beattie is an
experienced Catering & Facilities Management Specialist with
professional qualifications in both areas:-
- F.H.C.I.M.A.(1985) Fellow of the Hotel, Catering, International Management
Association.
- M.B.I.F.M.(1999) Member of the British Institute of Facilities
Management.
She has vast management and consultancy experience in the Hospitality
Industry, having managed four hotels in Northern Ireland, Scotland and
England and for the past twenty-six years holding the post of Northern
Ireland Civil Service (N.I.C.S.) Catering Adviser.
In
this post she provided six N.I.C.S. Departments and other N.I. Public
Bodies with impartial catering advice from a central source, devising and implementing
a N.I.C.S. Catering Policy to provide value for money, cost effective,
uniform and integrated service across the Province to
some fifty-seven in-house staff restaurants as well as other important,
high class hospitality and residential buildings.
During this period she was also the sole Catering
Adviser to the Department
of the Environment (Construction Service), authorising, designing and specifying
new and renovated catering units for 1000 occupants down to small self-help
mess areas.
Throughout the 'Troubles' in N.I., the 'Peace Talks' and finally the major
building renovation works at Parliament Buildings, Stormont (The seat of
the N.I. Assembly.) she was solely responsible for insuring that
catering and other facilities were specified and operated smoothly to
enable government business to continue.
Her successful introduction of
Facilities Management operations for soft services in many key operations has created cost effective, controlled
operations which work in partnership with the client, who can concentrate on
core business needs.
After leaving N.I.C.S. in November '99 'Beattie Consultancy' was
setup. She
is well known in the Catering, Food Management, Hospitality Industry and
was in 1999 presented with two awards from the H.C.I.M.A. (N.I. Branch) and was a
finalist in the 'Cost Sector' Catering (Public Sector) awards 1999,
nominated by Suppliers and Professional Colleagues.
Active in Church affairs, her hobbies include singing, music,
gardening, flower arranging, swimming and walking.
She is about to write the history of her former home, the Laharna
Hotel, Larne, where her Late Father George A. Beattie F.H.C.I.M.A., was General
Manager.
